Acting on behalf of a minor child

You can act on behalf of a minor child if

• you are the child's guardian.
• you have received one of the following mandates from the child's guardians:
  • Handling of healthcare matters
  • Viewing healthcare information

It is not possible to act on behalf of a minor child if

• the child's personal identity code is not valid, the child is not alive, the child is in custody, a protection order has been set for the child, or if a protection order has been set for any of the child's guardians.

When you want to act on behalf of a minor child, your rights will be checked through the Suomi.fi authorizations using the Population Information System. You can check your own details from the pages of the Finland.fi web service under the section Registers.

You can act on behalf of a minor child in the following matters:

• Making appointments (all ages)
• Viewing appointments (under 12 years old)

Acting on behalf of an adult

You can act on behalf of an adult if

• you have received one of the following mandates from the person:
  • Handling of healthcare matters
  • Viewing healthcare information

A mandate can be given or requested on the Suomi.fi authorizations pages under the section Grant and request authorizations.

An authorized person or organization, upon receiving the necessary mandates, can act on behalf of the person in the following matters:

If a person cannot independently grant a mandate in Suomi.fi authorizations, for example due to lack of skills or authentication means, they can grant a mandate with assistance.
